Practice Areas: Construction and Litigation

Since graduating from Boalt Hall in 1979, he has represented designers, environmental professionals, contractors and owners in professional practice, contract, business and litigation matters. He has defended and prosecuted construction claims involving every issue presented in complex construction cases, including delay and disruption, defective construction, geotechnical and environmental problems. He has tried over a dozen construction cases to verdict, and has appeared as appellate counsel in significant construction cases including the recent Arizona Court of Appeals decision in Willamette Crushing Company dba Wildish Southwest Construction Co. v. The State of Arizona by and through the Department of Transportation, et al., which held that the owner and design engineer do not warrant that a contractor can complete a project within a specified time.

He has significant experience in negotiating and drafting construction contracts for private and public works projects. These projects range from environmental and geotechnical projects to high-rises and transportation facilities.

Mr. Ashcraft has authored many papers and articles on construction law topics and is a frequent lecturer on construction law and the use of multimedia and advanced technologies.

Mr. Ashcraft is licensed to practice law in the State of California.
